Knowledge and Skills

  • Candidate with high level of knowledge for corporate income tax, personal income tax and accounting
  • 2-3 years Canadian income tax experience in public accounting environment
  • CPA, CGA, CA designation would be considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop business relationships with clients and provide professional judgement
  • Strong time-management skills, the ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Quick learner with ambitions to learn and grow
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be creative and seek/research unique ways to assist clients (i.e. strategies to save tax)
  • Proficient in technology and computer applications

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Canadian personal (T1), corporate (T2) and (T3) trust tax returns
  • Preparation of GST/HST/PST/QST, Payroll, T-Slips (T4, T4A, T5, T3 etc…), WSIB & EHT filing and remittance
  • Full-cycle accounting
  • Assisting with timely submission of monthly and annual financial statements, including variance analysis;
  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly and year-end closings, including review of balance sheet accounts, account reconciliations, approval of journal entries, and review of processed transactions;
  • Handling pre- and post- assessment reviews inquired by the CRA
  • Preparation of all work papers to support income tax return filings
  • Tax accounting including the preparation of quarterly and yearly tax reconciliations
  • Participation in tax planning projects
  • Researching tax related issues
  • Assisting with government tax audits including analytical support, collection of information, preparation of responses and dealing directly with auditors
  • Driving process improvement initiatives and implementing best tax practices
